Does this one really need any explanation? A DEFINITE must-have, and after all these years, the versions of the songs in the film are the best.

It should be mentioned, however, that, oddly enough, TRHPS Original Soundtrack album was unavailable in the U.S. for quite a while. It was not released domestically until around 1979, well after TRHPS had become a cult legend. Because it is not always easy to import albums from outside the U.S., and because that TRHPS' new-found success prompted a lot of fans' desire to own the music from the film, bootlegged soundtrack albums of TRHPS were floating around the black-market for a few years before the album was officially released. (See HERE for a detailed description of TRHPS Bootleg Soundtrack album.)

The original TRHPS soundtrack is missing the songs 'The Sword Of Damocles,' and 'Planet Schmanet, Janet.' Also, since it didn't make the final cut of the film, 'Once In A While' is also not on the original soundtrack. (All three tracks were issued in 1990 on Rocky Horror International, which is part of TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set.)

The original TRHPS soundtrack has been re-issued many, many times. The only major difference in any of these releases is the re-issue which was put out in 1989 by Rhino Records. This version of the original soundtrack features two remixes of 'The Time Warp,' one being an extended re-mix with dialogue from the film, and another being mainly an instrumental re-mix. Obviously, this is the most easiest of all Rocky Horror albums to find. The only pressing of this album that is really worth a lot of money to collectors is the very first pressing released in 1975 in the U.K. This pressing does NOT feature the traditional bloody TRHPS title, nor the lips on the record label like all other vinyl pressings of the album.

TRHPS Original Soundtrack is also available in All five Rocky Horror box sets.
