A second version of the song 'Shock Treatment' was recorded by Richard O'Brien with Nell Campbell singing backup. This version of the song can be heard at the end of the film on the theatrical version and most home video versions of the film. (Although the 16mm print of Shock Treatment I own ends with the film version.) Some fans prefer this version to the film version. This song is NOT on the original soundtrack album, but it was instead released as a 7" 45RPM single, with 'Overture' as it's B-side. This single also had a picture sleeve identical to the original soundtrack cover (as pictured above).

A 7" single was also released in Australia, but instead of being the O'Brien solo version, it's the version from the film by Richard O'Brien, Patricia Quinn, and Nell Campbell. This Australian single had two different pressings. It was released as a standard single, and a second limited-edition single was released on ORANGE VINYL with a sticker in the picture sleeve. (The sticker has a picture of the familiar Cosmo illustration, the DTV logo, and "Trust me, I'm a doctor" as well as saying "I've had SHOCK TREATMENT.") This single had a very limited release and is now very difficult to find.

I've also heard of a 12" vinyl promotional release of this single, but I haven't been able to find any info on it.

The Richard O'Brien solo version from the American 7" single release was also released on compact disc, being included in the compilation disc Songs From The Vaults, which was included in the TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set. However, this version of the song has yet to be released in any other format.

*****AVAILABILITY*****
All pressings of the original 7" single are now out-of-print, as well as the compilation disc Songs From The Vaults, which was included in the TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set. Copies of the 7" single have been known to turn up in used record stores, eBay, and Rocky Horror conventions. It's not the rarest RH-related single out there, but can be difficult to find depending on where you look. Songs From The Vaults is well out-of-print, but used copies of the TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set also turn up from time to time. I also see a lot of orphaned copies of Songs From The Vaults here and there, so you may find it as a single CD. (Personally, I want to know who these collectors are who sell off individual discs from the box sets. I could never imagine doing that myself....)
