"Touch-A Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me" by Belinda Sinclair (1975)

"Touch-A Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me"
by Belinda Sinclair (1975)

*7" SINGLE*
1975, Antic Records, K 11522

SIDE A: 'Touch-A Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me' (3:08)
SIDE B: 'Touch-A Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me' instrumental re-mix (3:09)

Belinda Sinclair was the second actress to play Janet Weiss on stage in The Rocky Horror Show. (The first was Julie Covington.) She appears as Janet on the Original London Cast album, and she also recorded this little tune sometime around 1975.

This cover version was recorded to celebrate the opening of TRHS in Japan. The song was originally recorded in Japanese, but didn't translate too well. (I'm not sure if it was ever released in Japanese or not.) This single is basically a disco re-make of 'Touch Me.' It's not a bad song at all, although it sounds a bit dated listening to it today.

The single's B-side is a very interesting and unusual instrumental mix of the song with Belinda moaning and groaning throughout the song. "Touch Me!" "Again!" "Come on baby!" "Sexy!" and so on. Most RH audiophiles have named this the "Orgasm" version or the "Masturbation Mix."

This single was originally issued in the UK in 1975 on the Antic Records label, and Belinda Sinclair is credited as simply "Binzi." The single was later issued in Japan on the HMV/Victor label, with a picture sleeve.

The single was re-mixed and re-issued in 1979 on The Rich Teaboy Label, and featured the perviously unreleased 'Over At The Frankenstein Place' cover by The Richard O'Brien Crusade, which replaced the instumental B-side remix. This third and final release is the easiest disc to find. You can read about it HERE.

The original mix of 'Touch Me' only appeared on this single. The instrumental B-side is available on the bootleg CD Dark Refrains. The Rich Teaboy re-mix is also available on this bootleg, however, the original mix of the song has yet to be re-issued in any form.

Both pressings of this single are extremely hard-to-find. The Antic Records issue is probably the rarest of the three releases, followed by the Japanese release, and leaving the Rich Teaboy single as the easiest to find.

One last note: this single is credited to "Binzi" and not Belinda Sinclair. The Rich Teaboy single credits the song to "Janet from The Rocky Horror Show." The Japanese single is the only release to credit Belinda Sinclair by her full name.

*****AVAILABILITY*****
The Antic Records release was only issued in the UK in 1975. It is the rarest of the three releases of this song, and is extremely difficult to find. Since it was not released with a picture sleeve like the other 2 issues, it may not be worth as much to some collectors. The original mix of the song has yet to be re-issued anywhere. The B-side and the re-mix of 'Touch Me' can be found on the the bootleg CD Dark Refrains, although that disc had a limited pressing of 35 copies. You may be able to find a copy of the Rich Teaboy single, but that is only available on vinyl.
