Dear Nurse Ansalong:
Some of my friends and I are going to put on an amateur showing of RHPS, and I would be playing Brad. I really want to play Brad, but they want me to get in full Rocky gear for the floorshow (fishnets, lingerie, heels, ect...) I'm really uncomfortable with this and I don't want to do it at all, but I really want to be Brad. What should I do?
-Brad (maybe)

Brad, you sound exactly like I did when I played Columbia for the first time. I was okay with the entire show, except for the Floor Show. I was so nervous about going out there in my corset. At that time, my corset was second hand and a little too tight, so, when I rehearsed, a certain part of my anatomy tended to "pop out", as the saying goes. When I finally performed my first show, it all actually went well and I didn't "pop out" once. As time has moved on, I've gotten more comfortable in the costume and, with a better fitting corset, I fit in a little more securely. If your fears are like mine were, then there are ways to change it. One thing that I did was to practice the moves in front of a full length mirror in costume. That way, you got to see what you look like and can find ways to move that would minimize the chance for any accidents. If you don't want to try that, then talk to the Director and/or the other Floor Show characters to see what they feel about their costumes. If they're just as nervous as you, they might be willing to adapt the costumes to help to calm everyone's fears. There really isn't anything else that I can think of that could help you, but, whatever your decision, I hope that you make the right one. We can't have a guy "popping out" of his corset and underware, can we? ; )
