Mainpage       Previous       Search       Chat       Merchandise       Contact Us Rocky Horror Coffin: As you may know, the coffin from the Church Scene of The Rocky Horror Picture Show has appeared on Ebay. The Link is Here. I have a few issues regarding it's authenticness. Here are my issues. Issue #1: The Handles... Ok, so the guy states they were changed. Ok. I can believe that. Issue #2: How about the finish. There is a substantial difference in the finish. The movie coffin looks like a deep walnut. The Ebay coffin is almost a two tone cherry, where the trim is a completely different color. Ok, so maybe it was restained. Issue #3: From the movie stills, it is quite obvious to see that the end of the coffin is tapered. I have trouble understanding how the Ebay coffin could stand like that without falling forward if it's end was shaped the same. Issue #4: The ebay coffin has 6 locks on the top. I don't see any one the movie coffin. Issue #5: Look at the edge trim. They are clearly not the same. I notice this mainly because my hobby is woodworking. And these two are unmistakably different. Issue #6: Take both pictures and line them up so that both coffins are the same height. When you do that. It is quite clear that if the handles were replaced they were also relocated. Issue #7: Ok, this one I can't prove but. Does the Ebay Coffin look a little long? The one in the movie is tiny. Maybe the Ebay'er can provide us with measurements. So in conclusion there is a chance this could actually be the same one. Maybe with new handles, stripped and restained, it may have had the end recut, and locks put on it. So yes it is possible. :-)
